California Carnivores
A Visual Tour
(Part One)

Matt stopped to get breakfast on the way to California Carnivores. We actually initally pulled into this little place that was a "Pawn Shop/Deli" but the deli portion of it was closed. This picture serves two purposes: Identification of Matt Ouimette with a moutful of food, and a view of the gorgeous land upon which CC resides.
This is the California Carnivores greenhouse from the outside. To a few really strange people, this looks a lot like Heaven.
This is a very healthy-looking Cephalotus growing at CC. The pitchers are probably two or three inches long.
CC isn't just for CP geeks - there are several educational displays; one for each major genus of carnivorous plants. This is the display on Darlingtonia. (The snake isn't real.)
CC is built as a pretty typical rectangular greenhouse - Sarracenia are to your left as you enter the door (which is just off the left side of this photo), Drosera are on the next row over, Pinguicula are down past the Sarracenia, Nepenthes are past the Drosera, and in the middle towards the back is the "hothouse" for Lowland Nepenthes species. (You can see Peter and Craig standing in front of it in their picture; the T-shirts are hanging against the front.) Oh, Matt is probably looking intently at a plant, or maybe he's still staring dumbfoundedly around like we all did; sorry about this photo, Matt.
I'm not really "into" Sarracenia, but I really really like S. leucophylla, and these were some beauts!
Same thing here - this is one of the biggest S.purpurea I've seen. I probably could have put my whole hand inside of one of the larger pitchers.
