The Great California Darlingtonia Expedition
(I was visiting California, it was an expedition, we saw Darlingtonia, and I thought it was pretty great....)

These are some of the photos that I took on the trip on Oct. 12, 1997 with Matt Ouimette (which is pronounced like "We Met" - just like it's spelled) and his girlfriend Tina, and Craig S. Gardner, who were all kind enough to respond to my note about being in California for a month and wanting to talk to some of "the locals." Matt offered to drive me to California Carnivores and Craig offered to show us his greenhouse and a native bog; how could I resist?! I eventually went through seven rolls of film (although one was lost in the bog before I could actually use it) - over 150 photos - and these are some of the "best of the best" that I managed to scan in while I'm still out here, once again thanks to Matt!

January 4, 1998 - I've been re-scanning all the existing pictures, plus a lot of new ones with my new scanner! Enjoy!

• One of the few Pinguicula I noticed
• Drosera capensis taking advantage of a hole left by a tree poacher
