CP: Newton Stuff
In addition to my Carnivorous Plants, I also own a Newton Messagepad 130. (Soon also the MP2100, I hope.) Recently, Newton Inc., in their brief life as an independent company away from Apple, released the Newton Toolkit and the Newton Bookmaker software as freely-downloadable software. Since I bring my Newton with me just about everywhere, and I've often wanted some CP information or other when I'm not near my PC, I've converted a large amount of CP information into Newton Book format. If you have a Newton PDA running OS 2.x, then you can d/l these packages to your Newton and carry the info around with you! (If you're using OS 1.x, send me EMail and I'll recompile the packages as a Newton 1.x book.)

The CP FAQ is still sort of "under development" - check back occasionally to get the latest version. I've kept each file seperate rather than combine everything as one book since there is around 3.5MB worth of data total. It also allows a user to only install what data they want. (I find the glossary to be supremely useful, but really only keep Danser's monograph on hand because I have the available space.) The CPdb are not in any way indexed or modified from the output from the CP DB site hosted by Rick Walker. I find them to be useful primarily in conjunction with the Newton's "Find" function to look up species info. (The Nepenthes one is particuarly valuable to find hybrid parent information.)
